User Interface Design
Innovative interface designs let users accomplish increasingly complex tasks more efficiently and with fewer costly errors. Our team of scientists and developers are recognized experts in visual analytics, applied cognition, human factors, and graphic design. From proof–of-concept demonstration software, to field-tested programs and innovative ship-board information systems, our designs have been used by the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps, the Office of Naval Research ONR), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), as well as a host of commercial companies.
Janus: Composable Displays for Supervision is a suite of composable peripheral modules that display system summary information – one module for each system. Janus supports rapid scanning and situation assessments to help supervisors identify deviations and where to focus their attention.
Joint Intelligence Graphical Situation Awareness Web (JIGSAW) is a unique way of gathering, sharing, and analyzing critical intelligence. Based on input from subject matter experts (SMEs) from major intelligence communities, this innovative interface encourages cooperative communication.
Predictive Analysis for Naval Deployment Activities (PANDA) is a global-scale system, designed and developed by DARPA, that assists U.S. Navy users performing maritime domain awareness by providing anticipatory situation awareness on tens of thousands of maritime entities.
Collaborative Tools for Tactical Teams (SLATE.2) is a wireless collaboration tool for distributed tactical teams (e.g., MIO, SOF, DHS) that integrates chat and whiteboards to allow annotation and text directly on shared mission documents, images, and maps. It supports spatial communication, coordinated activities, team situation awareness, and message management. Special attention is paid to human factors to streamline the interface.
